Halloween 2010!

After we carved our pumpkins, our neighbors across the street thought it was so neat that they carved one of their own. They used one of the traditional Maori symbols as the face. It was so cool!

Ella's school at ABC Educare was so fantastic to embrace our tradition of Halloween. First we brought a jack-o-lantern and many Halloween books to her school to share with her friends. They displayed everything on a table (see above). Then, in Ella's honor, they hosted a Halloween party. See the flyer below. It was so great of them to embrace our traditions and to give Ella a Halloween celebration! Click on the flyer below to see it larger - it is very entertaining to read!

Baking sugar cookies. We made pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and cats. We brought our cookie cutters from the U.S.

Our little Trick-or-Treaters. Owen was Max from "Where the Wild Things Are" and Ella was Snow White.

Again - this looks like my brother, Nathan. It must be the look.....

Our neighborhood was fantastic! Our neighborhood, The Links, has a social club which sent out a note about our U.S. traditions, our jack-o-lanterns, and to prepare for us trick-or-treating this year. Everyone had bowls of candy just for us and we had huge success!! It was an awesome Halloween!

Because it was such a "big" deal, several families invited us in for drinks and socializing.

Water Break! Trick-or-treating is exhausting.

This photo reminds me of my youth when we'd get home and dump all of our loot out and the trades were on!
