Back Beach

Last Sunday we went down to Back Beach on the edge of New Plymouth in the early evening. Back Beach is home to Paritutu Rock and the Sugar Loaf Islands. It's an expansive walk of beach with great views of Paritutu Rock and Mount Taranaki.

When I take pictures of Owen, I often crouch down. He then thinks he needs to crouch down too.

NZ has crystal glowing blue / green oceans, but the things that set it apart for us from other ocean areas we've visited is the rolling green grass.

Sugar Loaf Islands

As we were leaving we spotted a sea lion! (Look hard at the rocks on the left). He was moving towards the water and was much faster than we expected. We steered clear and went the other direction. We realized we didn't know anything about sea lions and didn't want Owen to be sea lion bait!
