Spring is Here!

Today is the first day of spring! We had a clear and sunny 16 C day. Next week our clocks will "spring ahead" near the same time the US clocks "fall back", therefore, the time difference between us is going to change several hours. After work/school this evening we took a walk down to the Coastal Walkway and took a stroll on our black sand beach. Absolutely amazing. (Click on the pictures if you want to see them larger.)

New "gum boots" which is a necessity for every kiwi child.

The large rock formations on the horizon are Paritutu Rock and the Sugar Loaf Islands

Jump! See the footage in the video posted below to view Owen's magnificent leaps.
One of the most fascinating things about the black sand beaches is the way they reflect images in the sunlight. It's almost like walking on a wet sand mirror.

Ella plays "chicken" with the water as it moves in and out. Owen did it one time and then freaked out when the water came over his gum boots.

The kids are mesmerized by watching the waves roll in.
