Owen had his first illness over the 4th of July holdiay. He started running a fever on the 4th. It got as high as 102 degrees. We called the pediatrician and were instructed to give him Tylenol and keep monitoring his temperature. He had no other symptoms. We set the alarm and took turns gettting up every 2 hours around the clock to take his temperature. He continued to run the fever for more than 24 hours and he was irritable. We called the pediatrician again and they instructed us to take him in. Since it was the weekend, we had to take him to the ER. They looked at his ears and throat and couldn't find the cause. They also had to catheterize him in order to rule out a UTI. Poor baby. They finally determined that it must just be a virus and we needed to let it run its course. His fever continued for 2+ days and he has now made a full recovery.
