Poor RSV Baby

Ella had been fighting a cold and yesterday it progressed to much worse. Her cough was getting worse and she was starting to have more difficulty breathing. We took her into the pediatrician and a saliva test showed that she has RSV and a double ear infection. Yesterday was a tough day. Her temperature spiked to 103.6 F and we alternated between breathing treatments, motrin, and tylenol throughout the day and night. Her respirations maxed out at 60 breaths per minute. She was fussy and frustrated, couldn't get comfortable, and lost her appetite. We spent the day rocking and watching cartoons. The albuterol breathing treatments helped tremendously and her fever subsided once we started the motrin (per Jackie Siver, PA). I slept on the floor in her room last night so that I could listen to her breathe.

She was up only a couple times during the night and we did breathing treatments and tylenol or motrin. This morning she woke up resembling her old self! Her breathing is much, much better and she spent the morning talking and playing. We are continuing the Tylenol/Motrin and her temperature is normal. We are so happy that she is feeling better! It is 30 degrees in Midland with a layer of fresh snow. The conditions are perfect for sledding, but unfortunately our poor RSV baby can't go outside, so Daddy pulled her around the house in a laundry basket. Almost just as fun!
